How we keep the marketplace clean.
HandyConnect uses a layered moderation approach: structural limits, automated signals, user reports, and human review. This page explains how each layer works and how to report something.
1. What We Moderate
We moderate profiles, job posts, bids, contracts, messages, photos, and reviews. We also moderate behavior signals such as no-show rates, dispute frequency, and chargeback patterns. Moderation focuses on safety, fraud, harassment, illegal activity, and circumvention of platform policies.
2. Layered Moderation
Structural: rate limits, signup throttling, and database row-level security limit who can do what. Automated: heuristic checks flag unusual messaging volumes, suspicious links, suspicious payment patterns, and known scam keywords. Community: Users report issues from any profile, job, or message. Human review: trained staff review flagged content and decide on action.
3. How to Report
Use the “Report” button on a profile, a job page, or a message thread. Choose the closest reason from the menu, add a short description, and submit. Reports are private; the reported User does not see who filed the report. For urgent safety issues email support@handyconnect.us with the job ID or profile URL.
4. What Happens After You Report
Reports enter a queue. The queue is prioritized: safety-critical reports (threats, weapons, harassment, fraud) are reviewed first. The reviewer looks at the in-app record, related reports, and any prior history. Most reports are resolved within a few business days, though investigations involving outside parties or law enforcement can take longer.
5. Possible Actions
Depending on severity, action may include: dismissing the report; warning the reported User; removing or editing specific content; reducing search visibility; pausing messaging; suspending the account; or permanently terminating the account. Severe violations are escalated to fraud handling (see Fraud & Dispute Handling Process) or to law enforcement.
6. Appeals
If your account or content was actioned and you believe the decision was wrong, you may appeal by emailing support@handyconnect.us within fourteen (14) days of the action. Include the job, profile, or content reference, the action taken, and any context you want considered. Appeals are reviewed by someone other than the original reviewer where reasonably possible.
7. False or Abusive Reporting
Filing false or harassing reports to harm a competitor or retaliate against a counterparty is itself a violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. Repeated false reporting may result in account suspension. Reports filed in good faith — even if not actioned — are not penalized.
8. Transparency
We may publish aggregated, non-identifying statistics about moderation outcomes (volume of reports, action rates, top categories) to give Users a sense of how the system works. We do not publish details that would identify reporters or reported Users.
9. Law Enforcement
HandyConnect LLC cooperates with valid legal process. Subpoenas, court orders, and search warrants should be sent to support@handyconnect.us. We may notify the affected User of legal process unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or believe notification would create risk of harm.
